Notes from an experimental 'Workation'
Is it really possible to work in a small van in never ending rain?
Before I jump into this week’s post, I want to say WOW it’s been a heck of a week.
My book is finally out in the world, you folk seem to be buying, reading, listening to and perhaps even liking it, book events are selling out, and tonight I’m launching it in Sheffield with incredible poet and fellow Peak dweller, Helen Mort. It’s fair to say that my cup runneth over and I couldn’t really ask for more. Except perhaps, you know, to have a bookshop window dedicated to Weathering or something ;) I mean, imagine my complete surprise when I opened Instagram yesterday morning and discovered that Booka bookshop in Oswestry had chosen my offspring as their non-fiction book of the month and made a window display in celebration! So, I consider this writing goals complete and if I die on the weekend, which I hope I won’t, then at least I have gone out at a high point, right?
Thank you to everyone for making this week so strange and special. I feel appreciated, even loved, and that fills my heart with joy. It’s been a strange time emotionally (as I have charted here already) and I have lots more to say on how I have been emerging from that, and what I’ve learned about myself along the way, but I think I will save that for another time. The main thing is that I feel sane again, and I feel ready for seeing people in person. I’m pretty sure that time away on workation helped with that so let’s crack on…
