The Lost Epigraphs That Never Were
Quotes from Weathering that didn't make the final cut
I mentioned in a previous post that I didn’t know the process for getting rights to use quotes as epigraphs (those little quotes that people use at the beginning of chapters etc.) for Weathering until it was too late. Luckily, I managed to get permission for one of my favourites that opens the book, but the rest had to be put aside. I’ll save the one that remained for you to discover when you read the book!
For anyone who has an advanced proof copy they will notice that the quotes are still in place. But for everyone else I thought it might be fun to share with you the lost epigraphs that never were with a couple of lines on why I loved them. They were each part of the character of the book, and influential on my thinking, so to lose them felt like a wrench at the time. But perhaps here they have a second chance to stay in conversation with the main text…
