For this interview, I decided to ask myself a handful of questions that others might not. Or perhaps to answer in a way that I might not with people looking at me. I hope you enjoy them. But first…a request… Weathering is published in gorgeous hardback a week today from all retailers, and if I can make this ask of you my readers then
Let’s bonk that mining book right off the top geology spot! 💪 I just got a shipment notification from Waterstones — I suppose they are shipping early to overseas customers? Can’t wait to receive it. 💚
So much truth in that interview that I could relate to! Labels - perhaps it's easier to say 'I write' than 'I'm a writer', but do you geologise?(!) Work with clients in a psychotherapeutic environment - but that's quite unwieldy when the noun is so much simpler!
Oh, an early morning here too! The dog and I are on the settee, under a blanket, while He (or Himself, as the Irish would say, at least in films) snores upstairs.
A fascinating read, thank you - I know nothing about rocks and was wondering aloud last night as I finished 'Grounded', whether I 'should' (or would be well-advised to) read some stuff...
And this early morning I have been rereading 'The Lock-Down Diaries' on my blog mimsy-smallstones.blogspot.com , and remembering how much I love writing, and 'should' be doing it properly...
(Oh, with my proof-reader's hard-hat on...answer #8 'peddling' surely? A typo I think...)
Congratulations Ruth! How exciting to soon have your creation out into the world.
I've got a publishing question for you. Have you ever signed a contract to write a book and the way the publisher envisions it is very different than the book that you want to write? If so, how did you handle it? That's just what's happened to me. I received the outline for the book that they want (its a drawing book) and it's not what was pitched to me before I signed the contract. It's very much not what I want. UGH.

Pre-ordered, and looking forward to receiving it ... also looking forward to Luisa Skinner’s book club!
Were you up listening to the dawn chorus too?! Xx
A bit late to your party, but I celebrate your publication and also love:
1. Rocks. They have much to tell us.
2. Your creative voice - it Rocks 🪨 haha.
3. How you invite and speak to your parts. (I call mine my beloved Monkeys 🙊🙉🙈)
It's such a beautiful cover. Looking forward to reading! Congratulations 🎉
Preordered Ruth and very much looking forward to the zoom for the gentle book club with Luisa Skinner!

Booting a mining book off of the top geology spot is one of the best arguments for pre-ordering a book I’ve ever seen 🙌
Till We Have Faces is indeed the answer we are looking for 💚
Oh Ruth, I could hear you chatting away to yourself. So much honesty, clarity & joy :) x
P.S. Feels like years since I put my pre-order in - I’m getting so close to having your gorgeous book in my hands I can almost smell it 🪨
This was so interesting and creative! I'm trying to find a way to pre-order. Nothing showing up from my favorite bookseller or Amazon
Pre-ordered!
Dear Ruth, I pre-ordered Weathering at my local bookshop yesterday, so I beat you to it!
Pre ordered and very much looking forward to the read!
